Abstract: This paper investigates the effect of thermal
radiation on an unsteady magnetohydrodynamic free
convective oscillatory Couette flow of an optically, viscous thin
fluid bounded by two horizontal porous parallel walls under
the influence of an externalimposed transverse magnetic field
embedded in a porous medium. The fluid is considered to be a
gray, absorbing – emitting but non – scattering medium and
the Rosseland approximation is used to describe the radiative
heat flux in the energy equation. The non – dimensional
governing coupled equations involved in the present analysis
are solved by an efficient, accurate, and extensively validated
and unconditionally stable finite difference scheme of the
Crank Nicolson method and the expressions for velocity,
temperature, Skin friction and rate of heat transfer has been
obtained.Numerical results for velocity and temperatureare
presented graphically and the numerical values of Skin
friction and Nusselt numberhave been tabulated. The effect of
different parameters like thermal Grashof number, Magnetic
field (Hartmann number), Prandtl number, Porosity
parameter and Thermal radiation parameteron the velocity,
temperature, Skin friction and Nusselt number are discussed.
