Abstract
Touchless fingerprint sensing technologies have been
developed to solve problems in touch-based sensing techniques
because they do not require any contact between a sensor and a
finger. While they can solve problems caused by the contact of
a finger. In order to overcome these difficulties, we propose a
new touchless fingerprint sensing device that captures image
of fingerprint using camera. Human fingerprints are Unique.
A critical step in automatic fingerprint matching is to reliably
extract minutiae from the input fingerprint images. Here we
first use several pre-processing steps on the binary image to
enhance the quality of image, followed by minutia detection,
removal of false minutia and features extraction. Final step is
minutiae matching. The proposed method can be applied to
other biometric applications requiring a large template for
recognition.
