Abstract:
Abstract- Image upscaling is an important field of digital image processing. It is often required to create higher resolution images from the lower resolution images at hand in computer graphics, media devices, satellite imagery etc. Upscaling is also referred to as ‘single image superresolution’. Upscaling an image does not add new definition in the image, it increases the spatial resolution of the image and thus the total number of pixels in the image. The process of upscaling is a tradeoff between efficiency, computation time and the quality of output images obtained. Upscaling introduces some level of artifacts or blurriness in the output image. This paper is a brief review of some linear methods of image interpolation. Keywords: upscaling, super-resolution, interpolation, bicubic
