Abstract:
Abstract: This study aims to design and develop a functional propagation model where the coverage and throughput of an urban 5G scenario namely macro and micro cells are computed using MATLAB. The developed model adheres to the specifications provided by the 3GPP Rel.16 documentation. The model considers the path loss and Outdoor-to-indoor (O2I) penetration loss formulations as per the Rel.16 technical document to reinforce the broad mathematical formulations of the channel behaviour. Suitable physical parameters for the base-station(BS) and the user equipment(UE) are considered to depict a real- world scenario. The coverage of the system is computed based on the transmit power and consequent path loss which occurs during the propagation of the RF signals. The throughput computation involves using the FDD frame type theoretical throughput formulations which is further incorporated into the NR PDSCH throughput tool in MATLAB to obtain the practical throughput. The analysis of a system operating with numerology-1 with a Sub-carrier spacing of 30kHz, transmit power of 46 dBm, at an operating bandwidth of 50 MHz with a center frequency of 3.55 GHz are considered with strict adherence to 3GPP guidelines.
